Model 400

2 EXAMPLE SET-UPS OF 4 EACH MLG-4/900 STATIONS

I . Four operators processing 5400 shrimp per hour at each station Ex: 46/50 shrimp per pound, averaging 48 shrimp per pound=112 pounds per hour per operator cutting and de-veining a total of 448 pounds per hour.

20 Total workers are cutting, de-veining, and peeling an average of 22.40 pounds per worker.

II. Four operators processing 5400 shrimp per hour of two different sizes Ex: 46/50 on two stations, 36/40 on the other two stations. 224 pounds per hour of 46/50 per pound, 284 pounds of 36/40 per pound for a total hourly output of 508 Pounds per hour.

20 Total workers are cutting, de-veining, and peeling an average of 25.40 pounds per worker.

We have been told numerous times that the average worker in plants cutting, de-veining, and peeling shrimp by hand is 10 pounds per hour on the average.

*For EZ peel, Prawnto has every other method beat hands down.

PROCESSING OVERVIEW

This is a basic overview of what we have to offer and some reasoning behind our efforts in shrimp processing for the past twenty years. Machine information is included. The capacity of each machine (MLG-4 or Model 400 or 400-2 with 4 MLG-4 units installed) is the same. It totally depends on the operating system. We know a processor in Mexico (shown on our short video) who has trained his operators to feed over 100 shrimp per minute (6000 per hour) through our machine. Since the Model 400-2 high volume processor has four each MLG-4 machines installed in it, it can operate at the rate of 24,000 shrimp per hour because the shrimp is always at the operator's fingertips eliminating wasted motion and effort, the operators use both hands to feed the machine, and the shrimp is then automatically taken away to an inspection ( for easy peel), or peeling table. The MLG-4 machine by itself is limited by how the shrimp is fed into the machines. It needs to be combined into either the Model 400, 400-2 , or Model 900 processing station as seen on our web site www.prawnto.com to achieve the maximum speed of operation. I would suggest that the Model 900 with one MLG-4 might be an initial purchase just to see the cuts available and feel comfortable about how the system works.

Derrell Sawyer, our vice president, went to several processing plants five years ago and saw that in many cases, the machines were not being used to best capacity. A limited amount of shrimp was placed in a pan on top of the machine, and the operators, in most cases, reached from one hand into the other hand and then fed the machine. This way off processing limited the operator to a maximum of about 3000-3600 shrimp per hour per operator feeding the machine. However the owners of those plants were happy with the increased production over hand work. The wasted motion and effort was our reasoning to design the Model 400 and 400-2. The continuous movement of product through the peeling process using conveyor belts is why the Model 400 and 400-2 can operate at an achievable 24,000 shrimp per hour producing "easy peel'.

The required number of finisher-peeler workers is 5- 6 per cutting operator. With experience, that number can be reduced to 4 - 5. However, with four machine operators using the Model 400-2 and 6 peeler-finishers per operator, there is a total of 28 workers producing peeled, tail-on or off, butterfly or other required cuts. For example with 41-50 shrimp per pound (45 per pound average), total pounds peeled and de-veined per hour is 533 for an average of 19 pounds per individual worker. This is at least 2 times as fast as the average worker in the industry is capable of doing by hand start to finish.

As far as cuts are concerned, all of our machines will do all the cuts (tail-on, tail-off, butterfly, full cut, PD tail on round, EZ Peel etc). The depth of cut is controlled by an adjusting rod on the machine side for each size.

Our machines do not actually peel, but make the peeling process much easier and very much faster as I have pointed out above. Of course "easy peel" is the fastest value added product to do because the shell is left in place and fewer workers are required for inspection. I know of no machine on the market that can be operated as fast as ours.
